Question by Kelly: Legal question regarding a death and a deed?
My father passed away 3 weeks ago. My parents divorced 3 years ago and my father had old bills that he didn’t pay (that were in his sole name only). My mother is worried (because both of their names are on the home’s deed) that creditors can try and collect on the house. Does his death automatically take his name off of the home? We tried to go to the court house to make an update on the deed with his death certificate, but my county’s courthouse operates in their wacky own system and wouldn’t even make a copy of it. Other than hiring an attorney, what can we do? Could a Quit Claim Deed help us?
They did their own divorce, and no disposition of the home was made. And no will was left. Doesn’t probate distribute money to creditors as well?
Question by : In need to find the socail security of my father who is deceased so that I may get his death certificate .?
death certificate fom the Cook County office

Answer by Chuck Try typing in his name in the following site: http://resources.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/metasearch Then move down to the Social Security Death Index click on it. Then see if you can find your father by his date of birth and/or his date of death. This will also give you a link so that you can order a copy of his birth certificate, death certificate, marriage license, or divorce certificate. Keep in mind that the certificates will cost money (I don’t know how much). Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. I live in Cook County, IL.
Sorry about the loss of your father.
Question by Brando: How does a Canadian citizen living in the U.S obtain a certified copy of their birth certificate?
I need a certified copy of my Dad’s birth certificate (who is a Canadian citizen) to get my own proof of citizenship of Canada. (I was born, and live in the U.S) But he lives in the U.S also and I have discovered that notary public cannot make certified copies of birth or death certificates. I read that to get your birth certificate you have to go to your county of birth. Is there a way for my Dad to get his certificate without having to travel to Canada?

On August 4, 2007, police found Simran Singh, on 1-395 in Arlington, Virginia, unconscious, badly bruised and bleeding severely. The Arlington County Police Department and the Commonwealth of Virginia Medical Examiner have ruled the death as accidental despite evidence indicating Simran was suffocated for over 10 minutes and suffered over 37 bruises on his neck, chest, head and back. On August 4, 2007, the Arlington County Police Department, denied the family the right to see and identify the body of their son. The Arlington County Police Detective told the family that he would not comply with any court order forcing him to allow the family to see the body of Simran Singh. The parents could see their sons body approximately one week (7 days) after the death. The Detective directly threatened the family with arrest if they continued to ask questions about the case and their insistence on seeing the body. The religious rights and privileges of the family were violated. The culprit knew about the Sikh religion of Simran and his parents and the hair being an important characteristic of their faith. At the time of the funeral when the family finally saw the dead body of their son, his head was found to have been shaved and was completely bald. It appears that the Arlington County police in VA displayed a kind of unusual hostility coupled with mental torture in handling the case of a 21year old George Mason student. It violated the religious rights of his parents. The Indian … Video Rating: 0 / 5
Question by : Can Anyone explain the job of NJ registrar of Vital Statistics?
I heard it is very difficult to get a birth certificate/death certificate from a county in New Jersey. Can someone explain this process to me?
Best answer:
Answer by G A The web site in sources is the New Jersey state site that explains how to get certificates for vital events. You have a choice of getting them from the state or from the local office in the municipality where the event occurred. The site doesn’t say anything about counties; Maybe New Jersey is like the nearby New England states, were counties do not keep vital records.
